The CFA looks forward to hosting a pregame tailgate event at Bucknell game starting at 12:00pm (noon).
Look for the “Cornell Football Parents and CFA Tailgate HQ” banner in Crescent Parking Lot – we hope to C U all there. Special thanks to Amanda Backus, Jennifer Sposito, and their crew for their hard efforts in making these tailgate parties such special events! Here is our Schedule of Events; please check regularly for updates to this schedule.
Additionally, thanks to everyone that was able to make it back to the hill for the Harvard game. It was a fantastic gathering as players huddled for the ‘48-‘52 and ‘71 team re-unions, as well as CFA Awards Day. The turnout for all events was evident and very enthusiastic. The CFA Awards Ceremony was the third that I have attended and it was very moving. The Tradition Room was packed out into the hallway as we honored four very deserving former “Big Red” greats! The amount of red shirts in the Football Tradition Room was bolstered by the large group of Leo Reherman’s ’88 classmates family and friends, as well as the friends and families of Mark Allen ‘74, George Arangio ‘65 and Phil Ratner ‘66. I had many compliments on the festive atmosphere of not only the reunion and the CFA events associated with the gatherings, but everyone was ecstatic about the pre-game tailgate festivities (view Harvard Tailgate photos here). The food and refreshments were outstanding and the venue was simply terrific! Best of all Coach Archer and the team were ready for the Crimson and came back strong in the second half after a sluggish first half, taking control of the game and securing an outstanding win for Cornell.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL CFA MEMBERS: CFA members can go to the ticket office in Bartels Hall on game day to obtain 2 season tickets. The ticket office will have a complete and up-to-date roster of all dues paying and lifetime CFA members.
We would like to thank all of our members for their generous support and encourage everyone to renew your membership today. Welcome all the new members that have recently joined the CFA as our ranks have recently grown to 616 paid members and we have surpassed our initial goal of 600 dues paying members and are well on our way to 700 paid memberships and 235 lifetime memberships by the end of the year. I personally want to give a special shout out to the parents of current players that have joined our ranks as a significant portion of our recent growth has been from the parents of our players. With increased membership, we are positioned to improve the tailgates and provide the meals for the players after the home games. As always, CFA members are welcome at all CFA sponsored tailgates. The combining of the parents’ tent and the CFA tent allows for a larger venue and promotes the familial atmosphere as originally planned when the CFA was formed back in the early 90’s.
As importantly, we need your help in encouraging others to join the CFA; Our current membership stands at 616 members.
HELP US REACH OUR GOAL OF 700 MEMBERS BY JOINING TODAY!

In closing, I want to share with all of you the gratitude that I witnessed after the game amongst the players. As many of us gathered with the parents to congratulate the team, the players could not have been more grateful as they personally thanked former alumni for supporting the program. I’ve seen signs of this in the past, but never to this magnitude. The players know of the opportunity to be special and they know winning football is within reach. They also know it is on them to make it happen, which is what they did on Saturday as they eliminated the mistakes in the second half of the game and ultimately obtained a powerful win. I attended a dinner on Saturday with a senior player that conveyed that very sentiment when I merely asked him his thoughts on the game. Let’s all stick with this team and let them know the alumni are their biggest fans!
Thanks for your support of the CFA – BEAT BUCKNELL!!!
